Consequences of global warming
There are many consequences of global warming which are likely to have a significant impact on the earth if we do not act now to curb the future effects of climate change.
The consequences continue to be highlighted by scientists, environmental activists and organizations who demand action be taken on a much larger scale than what is been done today to prevent global warming. In order to reduce the effects of global warming, all countries need to work together to help and reduce greenhouse gas emissions which are a key cause of global warming.
The Main Consequences
If we continue to pump increasing levels of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere then more heat will be trapped which has the ability change annual weather patterns bringing more severe conditions to many countries across the globe. This consequence of global warming could include an increase in severe drought, flooding and storms, causing significant loss of life or economic impact.
Global warming is likely to create additional consequences to the ones listed above and some of these are as follows:
- Melting of sea ice.
- Glacial retreat.
These two consequences could also result in not only rising sea levels but the extinction of some species such as the polar bear who rely on ice in the Arctic. Low lying areas could slowly become swamped with water creating challenging geographical issues for the relocation of large communities
Prevention
To prevent or reduce the future consequences of global warming there are many ways to prevent global warming. It is not only large companies who need to take action to help and reduce the consequences of climate change, but everyone on the planet should be doing their part. There exist many ways in which we can reduce the potential impacts of global warming, many of which are simple, everyday tasks that we can perform right away.
Everyday tasks such as ensuring all appliances are turned off when not in use can have a significant impact on the reduction of greenhouse gases been pumped into our atmosphere if performed by a large proportion of the population. Many other methods to reduce the consequences of global warming could also save you money on your electricity or heating bills such as installing the correct insulation, building products and purchasing energy saving products.
